About Product
The upper level – made of cork serves as a fruit bowl. The natural properties of the cork help preserve the fruit and keeps it fresh for longer and keeps pesky fruit flies at bay. The lower level, made of ceramic acts as a mini pantry to store potatoes, onions, beets as well as other root vegetables, as well as fruit that is not ripe enough. The ceramic body keeps the light out, and together with the insulating properties of the cork lid, they help maintain a constant temperature, much like in an old school cellar. Created with a clever design and using natural materials well-suited to storing fresh produce––the Large Storage Bowl performs on 2 levels. The cork lid, which serves as a fruit bowl, provides an elegant presentation, while the ceramic base offers a space for keeping onions, beets or potatoes fresh and out of sight. Under the lid, the lack of light slows down germination, and 3 small holes provide just the right amount of ventilation. Coupled with the insulating properties of cork and ceramic, the Emile Henry Large Storage Bowl recreates conditions similar to those of a cellar, right in the heart of your kitchen or dining room. In the upper portion, the cork bowl hosts with care even the most delicate fruit. Resting on the cork surface makes a fruit less likely to spoil at the point of contact. Different culture handed-down tips rely on the idea that cork helps keep the fruit flies away and absorb the humidity the fruit might release. This is what makes the Large Conservation Bowl so special along with its generous and elegant looks.
Key highlights:
- Resistance Against Mechanical Shocks: During everyday use, there are many opportunities to bang a dish or a set of plates. Particularly resistant to shocks, our ceramic is even used in restaurants!
- Resistance Against Temperature Changes: A dish or stewpot should be able to withstand wide variations in temperature. Lid excluded. Our ceramics allow our products to be taken directly from the freezer to the hot oven (+250°C/500°F).
- Resistance Against Fading Colors: Heat, the dishwasher or sharp instruments will all have an aging effect on a product. Lid excluded. Our glazes are particularly resistant to the dishwasher as well as the most aggressive of detergents.
- 10 year warranty
